Opening debate: Cape Pomerania and transport and logistics development strategies in West Pomerania

In early November 2025, a change in the concept for the construction of a deep-water container terminal in Świnoujście was announced. Cape Pomerania, described as the most ambitious project in the history of the Szczecin-Świnoujście Seaport Authority, is set to become an international logistics hub for Poland, eastern Germany, as well as the Czech Republic and Slovakia. During the debate, topics such as the significance of the project for the development of the logistics sector in Poland and neighbouring countries will be discussed. How will the new formula for implementing this investment affect public-private sector cooperation? How should investments be planned and logistics processes developed in the hinterland of the planned container port, and how will Cape Pomerania affect Poland’s position on Europe’s logistics map?

13:30 – 14:30Debate: The Oder Waterway and the “Nadodrzanka” railway line in international transport corridors

The Baltic–Adriatic TEN-T corridor defines Poland’s position in logistics chains along the north–south axis. In Poland, this corridor consists of two branches leading to the Tri-City and to the ports of West Pomerania. The western branch of this corridor has been neglected in terms of investment in recent years, affecting, among other things, intermodal transport capacity in the region. The debate will cover planned investments on this branch of the Baltic–Adriatic Corridor and their impact on the transport and logistics sector’s capabilities. How will the hinterland of the ports of Szczecin, Świnoujście and Police develop in the coming years? What is the potential of the Oder Waterway for inland transport, including container transport? What are the bottlenecks on the Szczecin/Świnoujście – Wrocław – Czech Republic railway corridor?

14:30 – 15:30

Debate: Innovation and competitiveness in the European logistics industry and economy

European industry, transport and logistics are under growing competitive pressure from China and the USA, which have emerged in recent years as technological leaders in sectors such as e-mobility and digital services. The debate will address issues related to the competitiveness of European industry and logistics. Do innovations drive competitive advantage, or are they merely an end in themselves? Is European logistics keeping pace in the technological race with industry leaders from Asia and America? How can a new solution be effectively implemented in a company or public administration entity?

Debate: The role of intermodal transport in economic security and military mobility

The European Union is preparing a new financial framework placing greater emphasis than before on support for military mobility and investment in dual-use infrastructure. The new geopolitical situation presents both a challenge and an opportunity for the logistics and intermodal transport sector. The debate will focus on topics such as the role of combined transport in Europe’s security system, cooperation between the logistics sector and the military, the transport of critical cargo and supply chain security, as well as the significance of intermodal transport for civil defence.
